Drought, climate changes discussed in CuneneDec 2, 2013
Matters concerning the problematic of drought and climate changes were discussed on Monday, Dec. 2, in Ondjiva, Cunene province (southern), during a workshop sponsored by the Ministry of Environment with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The program of the workshop focused on " National plan on fighting of desertification and mitigation of the effects of the drought in Cunene province".
At the meeting, the participants discussed such topics as the national plan on adaptation to climate changes, comprehensive sanitation programme led by the communities and evaluation of the recommendations from the 2009 environment auditing.
Also under approach are the National Action Programme and Combat of Desertification and other matters concerning climate changes.
The delegation from Luanda took advantage to visit areas affected by the drought in the municipalities of Ombadja and Kwanhama. The team also met with the institutions involved in emergency aid to the populations.
This delegation included the Minister of Environment, Fatima Jardim, Secretary of State for Technology and Environment Quality, Syanga Abílio, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) representatives.
