Economic Report on Angola in 2002 - 2004 : “Defusing the Remnants of War”

25 May 2005

This report is intended to provide information about the main economic achievements in the country since the milestone year of 2002, which saw the end of the prolonged Angolan conflict. It draws attention to differences between wartime economics and performance during the transition period from war to peace and development.

The first chapter reviews the development situation and the challenges in the military and political, social and financial fields; then follows a brief description of the Government’s policy response to the situation.

The second chapter features the economic report itself, in four sections: productive sectors, external accounts, money and prices, public finances.

The response of donors in support of national efforts is surveyed in a third chapter.

The fourth chapter presents the immediate Outlook.
